This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1971 Pantheon Books. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages inside are actually still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Gold cloth hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good but does have light shelf wear mostly along corners/edges. Crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8" with 347 pages.
Hugh Green previously delighted readers with The Rivals of Sherlock Holmes, a collection of detective stories set in London and written at the time of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's heyday. This is the companion volume to that book, stories from mystery writers of the period from London and around the world. It is a fine collection of detectives and villains brought together by some great writers. Hugh Green also gives a brief description of each writer and places him within the period. Thirteen stories make up the volume.
