This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1980 Bonanza Books. This copy is clean inside and out. There is only very light natural tanning to pages from age. Pages are still crisp and clean inside with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Brown hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is still clean and shiny with only light shelf wear, mostly to back. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 643 pages including index.
The Classic Encyclopedia of the Horse is a complete guide to raising, breeding, history, personalities, horsemanship and general stable care. It includes a special 200 pages medical section with extraordinarily detailed anatomical drawings. Originally published in 1887 as The Standard Horse, its accurate and detailed contents have remained a standard and it has been republished accordingly. With over 950 illustrations, it is a complete guide for the novice or experienced horseman. Four chapters are devoted to equine diseases compiled in collaboration with expert veterinarians of the times. Illustrations are beautifully detailed.
