This is a very good hardcover. Circa 1960's Collier Publishing, The Young Folks Shelf of Books New Jr Library. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings or foxing seen. The binding is tight and straight. Hardcover boards are also very good, clean with only very light shelf wear. Lettering on cover and spine along with design are still very good with little rubbing. Super octavo book size or 7" x 11". Illustrated endpapers front and back.
In the 1930's P.F. Collier published The Junior Classics Library in 10 volumes. Each volume contained stories of classic literature for young readers. Each volume focused on a different genre of stories. Stories about boys and girls, stories from history, animal stories, stories that never grow old, myths and legends, hero stories and other topics made up the set. The set was republished multiple times and eventually called The New Junior Classics and published in a slightly larger format called the De Luxe Edition. Each volume was originally edited by Mabel Williams and Marcia Dolphin with intros and introductions by William Allan Neilson and Charles W. Eliot. These intro are included in the revised reprinted editions.
