This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover. 1987 Franklin Library Mystery series. NOTE: there is a difference between Franklin Library leather-bound books and Franklin Library Mystery series. While still handsome binding, Franklin Library Mystery series is NOT bound in leather. It is a faux-leather look and confusion is often found in the difference as some are listed as leather-bound while being faux leather. THIS EDITION is the faux leather binding and does NOT feature silk moire fabric endpapers as found in leather-bound Franklin Press. Nonetheless, is is still considered a collectible. It does feature gold design and lettering to cover and gold tip page edges, but NOT 22k gold as in fine Franklin Library editions. It does have marbled endpapers, nice sewn binding and hubbed spine. It is printed on acid neutral paper. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. Binding tight and straight. Only a hint of shelf wear to cover. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 304 pages.
Edgar Allan Poe Tales of Mystery and Imagination is sure to delight any Poe fan. It is finely illustrated by Harry Clarke. 18 tales fill the pages including classic favorites such as Fall of the House of Usher, Pit and the Pendulum, The Tell-Tale Heart, Murders in the Rue Morgue and more. Other tales of horror and suspense but lesser known, include King Pest, Silence - A Fable, MS. Found in a Bottle, Purloined Letter and more.
