This edition of The King of the Golden River by John Ruskin is illustrated by Fritz Kredel. It is a story or fairy tale the illustrates the triumph of love, and goodness over evil. Set in Austria, the fable tells of The Black Brothers who mistreats The Southwest Wind and find their lovely valley flooded as a consequence. The evil of its owners has transformed Treasure Valley into sand after the flood with all their assets washed away. The fable imagines that nature responds to good and evil either positively or negatively. The book was originally published in 1851 and was an immediate success.
