This is a very good hardcover. 1912 Scribner Publishing, First Thus. This copy is very good inside and out. NOTE: previous owners bookplate neatly placed inside front cover (see photo). Inside pages only have light natural tanning from age with no foxing or markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Tissue guard covering frontispiece art is still intact and in place. Olive green hardcover boards are very good with only light shelf wear corners/edges. Decorated olive green boards have gold bear design and lettering front with title/author/publisher lettering on spine and the gold lettering is very good with only a hint of wearing. Octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 246 pages including index.
The Wilderness of the North Pacific Coast Islands by Charles Sheldon is subtitled A Hunter's Experiences While Searching for Wapiti, Bears, and Caribou on the Larger Coast Islands of British Columbia and Alaska. Over 60 illustrations/vintage photos accompany the text along with 5 maps. Contents include: Hunting the Wapiti on Vancouver Island 1904, Hunting the Big Bear on Montague Island 1905, The Elusive Caribou on the Queen Charlotte Islands 1906, and A Woman's Experience Among the Bears of Admiralty Island 1909. Appendices and notes are included final pages along with index.
