This is a very good paperback. 1994 Perseus Books. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight, NO creasing along spine. The cover is clean front and back with only a hint of shelf wear. Standard trade paperback size or 6" x 9.5" with 258 pages.
The authors dream was to live on a few green acres along Alder Brook just east of the Presidential Mountains. He settles into a cabin with no running water and no electricity. The cabin was built of logs he hauled out of the wood with a team of oxen. He is alone except for Jack, his pet raven. In his year in the cabin he discovered peace and quiet and harmony with nature. The author, a professor of zoology, tracking deer and finding his attention not to books and forms, but to the draw and drama of nature and the little things. The book features compelling text along with drawings of plants, animals and nature throughout.
