This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1977 Oxford University Press. This copy is very clean inside. The inside pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. NOTE: There is some dust spotting along top edge and one small spot along side edge of outer pages BUT does not carry over to inside, see photo top page outer edges. Black hardcover boards under jacket are very good with only a hint of shelf wear. the accompanying dust jacket is clean and shiny with only very light shelf wear. Octavo book size or 6" x 8" with 689 pages. Maps of states east of the Mississippi inside front and back endpapers.
A Guide to Bird Finding East of the Mississippi is a revised edition of the original. It features updated pen and ink drawings by prominent ornithologist George Miksch Sutton and is still regarded as one of the best detailed and comprehensive guides. For each of the 26 states featured the author pinpoints the main species of birds, representative habitats and more. Originally published in 1951, Audubon Magazine praised the book as one of the most useful. This updated edition from 1977 is expanded and longer than its original predecessor.
