This is a very good hardcover. 1983 National Geographic Books. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The emerald green hardcover boards feature color illustration front with white lettering along spine. The hardcover boards are also very good, clean with only very light shelf wear at corners. The binding is tight and straight. Royal octavo book size or 7" x 10" with 207 pages including index.
Into the Wilderness from National Geographic is a wonderful detailed book that recounts the early explorers of America. Chapter are devoted to Dominguez and Escalante in the Southwest, Daniel Boone Beyond the Settlements, Mackenzie and Thomson in Canada's Vastness, Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery, Reckless Breed the Mountain Men, and John Charles Fremont Maps for the West. As expected from Nat Geo, it is extensively and lavishly illustrated with maps, color photos, vintage paintings and more. Accompanying the designs are detailed text the follows the explorers along their journeys.
