This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. Circa 1970's Time Life Art Series books. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. Hardcover boards in tan with brown quarter trim are near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is also near fine, with full color illustrated frontispiece. Larger coffee table style book, quarto book size or 9.5" x 12".
The World of Vermeer from Time Life Art Library Series is a history of the work and times of Johannes Vermeer. Vermeer was a Dutch painter during the Baroque Period. His famous Girl With a Pearl Earring is a stunning example of his work and considered his most famous. The painting is not actually a portrait, but one of an imaginary figure. This book is extensively illustrated with his work and the text details his life and times.
