This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. Circa 1970's Time Life Art Series books. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. Hardcover boards in tan with green quarter trim are near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is also near fine, with full color illustrated frontispiece. Larger coffee table style book, quarto book size or 9.5" x 12".
James Abbott McNeill Whistler was an American painter whose style was oil and watercolor paintings. He spent time in Russia with family and later England where he spent most of his life where he was part of the Realism art movement. Well known for his portraits, he is one of the most acclaimed American artists of his time. This edition is finely illustrated with his work and the text details his life and times.
