This is a very good hardcover. 1963 Pantheon Books. NOTE: THIS IS AN EX-LIBRARY COPY BUT IN VERY CLEAN AND GOOD CONDITION. This copy is clean inside and out. Library markings minimal and as follows; inside front cover school stamp and room number (see photo). Across from inside cover on first blank page is number "222" written top corner, no other writing that page. Inside back cover is the library pocket with no writing etc, just a clean library pocket (see photo). No other stamps or markings seen, it is remarkably clean given ex-library. The are clean and unmarked. The binding is tight and straight. The cover is good with light shelf wear at corners (wearing) and some wearing along edges, but overall good and solid, clean copy. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 173 pages.
Often considered the greatest novelist of all time, Tolstoy released "Childhood" in 1852 originally done in 3 volumes, two volumes followed Childhood. It was his first novel and originally known as Childhood, later titled Nikolenka's Childhood as it follows the life of a long boy, Nikolenka. This edition was published in 1963 and is finely illustrated by Maurice Sendak. The edition is translated for young readers.
