This is a very good set of 4 hardcover, NO dust jackets, jackets missing. Third Printing, early U.S. Edition from Dodd Mead circa late 1956-1958. This is a good and solid set. The inside pages have light natural tanning from age but are very clean with no markings seen. Inside the covers there is some minor foxing on each but no serious foxing throughout the set. The bindings are tight and straight, all inside pages are tight to binding. The hardcover boards on each volume are very good with light shelf wear but little fading as lettering along spine still clean and legible. Standard octavo book size of 6" x 9" each. NOTE: along top edge of Volume One and Volume Two there is a minor stain to outer top page edges (see photo) BUT does not carry over to inside. Priced accordingly.
The History of the English Speaking Peoples by Winston Churchill was published in 1956 as a four volume set. Churchill began the writing in 1937 but the work was delayed by war and other events. It covers the history of Britain, its colonies, and events and covers the period from Caesar's invasions of Britain through 1902. This set contains all 4 volumes, beginning with Volume One and Two published in 1956 and Volume Three published 1957 along with Volume Four published 1958.
