This is a very good and rare hardcover. Chatty & Windus Publishing London, 1909 Volume lV ONLY. This copy is clean inside and out. There is light natural tanning to pages from age but they are clean with no foxing seen. The binding is tight and straight. Red hardcover boards with maroon leatherette quarter trim are also very good given age. There is light wearing to corners/edges but overall solid and very good. This copy, Volume Four ONLY has three spots to front cover but they are considered minor overall as majority of cover very good. There is some wearing to top edge at spine, also considered minor. Top page edges tipped in gold gilt which is still very good with only light wearing of the gilt which is often found in vintage gilt books. Gold title lettering along spine is still intact with only a hint of wearing to lettering or design. Crown octavo book size or 5.25" x 8" with 412 pages. Pink marbled endpapers front and back.
Algernon Charles Swinburne was a Victorian era English poet and critic. He was a vocal critique of the conservative values of his time. He wrote both novels and poetry collections. This edition of his work was originally published in six volumes in 1904. This listing is for Volume Four ONLY.
