This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. Circa 1970's Time Life Art Series books. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. Hardcover boards in tan with brown quarter trim are near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is also near fine, with full color illustrated frontispiece. Larger coffee table style book, quarto book size or 9.5" x 12".
The World of Copley from Time Life Art Library Series is an illustrated history of the artist's life and works. John Singleton Copley was the foremost American artist of the 18th century. He began his career in Boston, 1753 and later self-exiled to to London in 1774. He was the first American painter on record to take up to take up residence in Europe upon the insistence of his European colleagues. This book is extensively illustrated with his work and the text gives details to his life and times.
