This is a rare two volume set of hardcover with dust jackets. 1966 Princeton University Press. NOTE: THIS SET IS AN EX-LIBRARY SET but in very good condition! Both hardcovers are very clean with crisp and clean pages inside. There is a library sticker inside front cover both and library stamp "discard" on title page both. There is also an "old school" library checkout pocket inside back cover both volumes. The dust jackets are covered in archival mylar covers with library sticker on spine. The bindings on both are tight and straight. Both are in very very good condition inside and out. Medium octavo book size both or 6.5" x 9.5" with 526 pages Volume One and 513 pages Volume Two.
This set is a definitive history of James K. Polk and his pre-presidential career (Volume One) and his presidential career (Volume Two). Thew biography is regarded as a definitive and complete bio and history along with a fascinating study of state and national politics.
