This is a near fine (almost like new) leather-bound hardcover. 1979 Easton Press Collectors Edition. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: the only hint used is an ink mark on publishers preface page. Seems someone tested their pen on that page with an ink mark the appears as a wavy line at bottom page. No other markings seen inside. The inside pages are graced with gold silk moire fabric endpapers front and back. The fine leather binding is done in burgundy with gold gilt design front and back and gold gilt lettering on the handsome hub (raised) spine. The binding is tight and straight done in fine Smyth sewn binding. All three pages edges are edged in gold gilt with barely any wearing to the gilt which is often found in vintage gilt books. Attached gold satin ribbon bookmark. Super octavo book size or 7" x 10" with 779 pages.

This edition of Tom Jones by Henry Fielding from Easton Press is finely illustrated by T.M. Cleland with an intro by Louis Kronenberger and a publishers preface. The colour frontispiece of Fielding was specially commissioned for the edition.
The work was originally published in 1749 in 6 volumes and later revised by the author into for a 4 volume edition later that same year.
