This is a near fine (almost like new) leather-bound hardcover. 1980 Easton Press Collectors Edition. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. Bound in olive green leather, the edition features gold gilt design on front and gold title lettering along the handsome hubbed (raised) spine. All three page edges are tipped in gold gilt and there is barely any rubbing of the gilt which is often seen in vintage gilt books. The binding is tight and straight and down in Smyth sewn binding with concealed muslin joints. Inside pages are graced with dark olive green moire fabric endpapers front and back. Attached green satin bookmark. Super octavo book size or 7" x 11" with 337 pages including index of titles and first lines.
Poems of John Keats by Easton Press has been selected and edited by Aileen Ward and includes an intro. It is finely illustrated by David Gentleman. The poems selected for this volume first appeared in London periodicals. John Keats was an English romantic poet along with the likes of Lord Byron and Percy Shelley. Sadly, Keats died at 25 but left a lasting legacy of poems.
