This edition of David Copperfield by Charles Dickens by Easton Press is finely illustrated by John Austen. The frontispiece illustration of Dickens was specially commissioned. Originally published as a serial in 1849-1850, it was published as a novel in late 1850. It follows the life of David Copperfield as he leaves infancy into maturity. David is raised by his child-like mother and their housekeeper. Upon his mothers marriage, he is sent await 7 years old. When he returns, he develops a dislike for his mother new husband. Soon after, his mother dies in childbirth along with her baby.

Deemed as his most autobiographical novel, episodes of Dickens' life can be discerned.
