Don Quixote by Cervantes was originally published in two parts in 1605 and 1615. It is an epic Spanish novel and considered one of the finest ever written. When published in 1605, it was a one volume novel, not a two volume set. But, it did mention ongoing or further adventures to come but was not initially interpreted to mean a forthcoming book. The La Mancha plains of Spain the is the setting for the novel. It reflects the Spanish society of Cervantes time.
This edition is translated by John Ormsby with an intro by Irwin Edman. It is finely illustrated by Edy Legrand. The work inspired future paintings and depictions from the likes of Picasso and others.
