This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. First Edition Second Printing 1959 Random House Publishing. This copy is very good inside and out. The pages inside are very clean with no foxing or marks seen. There is shading inside front cover where previous owners left a paper laid inside (see photo). Rest of pages clean. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards have gold title lettering front and gold title/author/publisher lettering along spine. NOTE: there is a small "bump" to top right corner front cover but rest of cover wear very light. Crown octavo book size or 5.75" x 8" with 436 pages.
The Mansion by William Faulkner was published in 1959 and is the last book in his trilogy about the fictional family, the Snopes of Mississippi. It traces the downfall of the family who seized control of Jefferson, a town in Mississippi. the trilogy begins with the murder of Jack Houston and ends with the murder of Flem Snopes. The novel recounts the downfall and is divided into three parts: "Mink" "Linda" and "Flem". Themes include rural and social tensions in a displaced economic environment.
