This is a near fine (almost like new) set of two leather-bound hardcovers. Easton Press 1970. This set is near fine inside and out. The pages are crisp and clean with no markings seen. Bound in full genuine leather, it is one of the Easton Press Military History series, collectors editions. Bound in maroon leather, it features gold gilt page edges with gold design and title/author lettering along spine. Silk moire endpapers. Smyth sewn binding with raised (hubbed) spine along with attached satin bookmark make Easton Press collectors books among the finest bindings. This set includes the accompanying Military History bookplate and collectors notes laid in. Super octavo book size or 7" x 10" with 954 pages each including index.
The Rising Sun by John Roland won the non-fiction Pulitzer Prize in 1971. It chronicles the rise and fall of the Japanese Empire during World War ll. It is still considered a definitive historical account of the events during World War ll.
