Disraeli by Robert Blake was first published in 1966 and remains one of the supreme political biographies of all time. Benjamin Disraeli was a conservative politician and writer who served twice as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He played a pivotal role in the creation of the modern Conservative Party. Known for his Suez Canal negotiations and role in the Conservative Party and its rise and influence, Disraeli reached the pinnacle of his political career but suffered greatly during the 1870's after disaster in Afghanistan and South Africa. The Conservative Party suffered defeat thereafter and it was not long until Disraeli's health suffered.
The scope and scale of this biography makes it one of longstanding acclaim and sheds light on current British politics today and in the past.
