This special edition of "This is the Hour: A Novel About Goya" was created by The Heritage Press. J.B. Neumann selected the illustrations from Goya's drawings, etchings, and paintings and placed them to illustrate the narrative. Illustrations in color were made from ektchromes taken inside the Prado and the Academia de San Fernando by Jose Loygorri, official photographer in those museums. The text paper was specially selected.
Famous for his historical novels, Feuchtwanger tells the story of Goya, his life and transition from court painter to painter of political conscience who used art to protest repressive policies in Spain.
This novel is a wonderful way to learn and become acquainted with the famous painter and his art.
