This is a very good hardcover. 1992 Konecky and Konecky Books Edition. This copy is very clean inside and out. Olive green hardcover boards under jacket are also very good with barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 7" x 9.5" with 690 pages including index.
General Longstreet is one of the most controversial figures of the Civil War. Long criticized for his role at Gettysburg, historical opinion has begun to view him in a more favorable light. Lee relied upon him most of all his officers. Longstreet's memoirs reflect the combative style of the soldier. Much historical interest lies in the insight they afford into his mind and character along with the factual accounts of the progress of the war. Though many have questioned his command decisions his dedication and loyalty was never in question.
