The accompanying slipcase is very good, showing light shelf wear to corners/edges. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 121 pages.
This copy of Monsieur Beaucaire by Booth Tarkington is finely illustrated in color plates by T.M. Cleland. Includes the original Heritage Club Sandglass Pamphlet. The short novel was published in 1900 and set in England. Beaucaire is ordered out of public prominence because of his low status. Beaucaire is a barber to a French nobleman and has established a reputation of honesty while gambling with English high society in private. When he catches a Duke cheating, he threatens to expose him and demands the Duke take him to a ball and introduce him as a noble, otherwise he will expose the cheating scandal. Upon arriving at the ball, he is accepted and wins the affection of Lady Carlisle. More deception ensues as the plot unfolds and readers find out if Beaucaire gets away with his own deception or is caught up in it.
