Moonraker by Ian Fleming is the third novel to feature Secret Service agent James Bond. Published in 1955, the novel played on fears during the 1950's of rocket attacks, nuclear annihilation and foreign threats. Fleming did extensive research for the novel, writing to sci-fi author Arthur C. Clarke for rocket research and a fellow war correspondent, Anthony Terry, for reference on German rockets.
The novel was considered Fleming's best work to date when published.
