This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1971 DoubleDay Publishing. This hardcover is almost like new inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Brown cloth hardcover boards with gold title lettering under dust jacket are also almost like new with barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is very good, it is showing light shelf wear but is still clean and still shiny front with small tears along top front edge. This is a large quarto book size or 9.25" x 13" with 617 pages including index.
Mystic Warriors of the Plains by Thomas E. Mails describes in detail the life ways and life styles of the Plains Indians at the height of their culture. It shows their day to day life, social customs, forms of government, and the role of the warrior in their highly mobile society. Sections are devoted to their religion, supernatural beliefs, medicine, and ceremonial practices. Another section is devoted to their arts and crafts, making of clothes and shelters and more. It is a magnificent volume with well detailed and researched history and finely illustrated in full color art, line drawings and photos.
