This is a very good hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1963 Folio Society, London. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. NOTE: previous owners bookplate placed inside front cover (see photo). Only other markings is date neatly stamped bottom of second page. Rest of pages paper crisp and clean with no other markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Black hardcover boards with gold design/lettering are very good with barely a hint of shelf wear. The slipcase is also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 181 pages.
Charles Lamb: Essays is a compilation of from the English essayist and poet. Best known for his Essays of Elia, they are included in this edition. He and his sister co-authored the Childrens book, Tales from Shakespeare, one of his other famous works. This edition includes The Londoner, Keats Lamia, The Death of Coleridge, The Essays of Elia and an autobiographical sketch. Edited w intro from Rosalind Vallance and John John Hampden, it is finely illustrated with wood engravings by Frank Martin.
