This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1973 Abrams Publishing. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are clean with no markings seen. The color photos and illustrations are bright and sharp. The binding is tight and straight. Black hardcover boards under jacket are almost like new, barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is still clean and shiny with only a hint of light shelf wear. Almost super octavo books size or 7" x 10" with 139 pages including index.
Sea Shells have enchanted mankind as far as records go back. Their shape, texture, size, color, and modes of adaptations seem inexhaustible. People find pleasure in collecting them and artists have incorporated them into everything from architecture to jewelry. This book, with the collaboration of the Delaware Museum of Natural History, created a beautiful and revealing presentation of sea shells, one of the most elaborate published. Using black and white along with full color photos, the readers is presented with detailed descriptions and information about each shell featured. An introductory text for each shell details its history and information. Wonderful reference for any novice collector or oceanographer student.
