This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. 1968 McGraw Hill Publishing. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages are very clean with no marking seen. The binding is tight and straight. Black hardcover boards are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 272 pages. Burnt orange endpapers front and back complement the binding inside.
King, Queen, Knave by Vladimir Nabokov was published in 1928 and written while Nabokov was living in Berlin. The novel was not translated into English for another 40 years. It was the authors second novel. A novel of love triangles, we meet Franz as he is on his way to Berlin for a job at his rich uncle's department store. On his way to Berlin, Franz travels aside a man and his young wife. Unbeknownst to him, the man is his uncle and the woman his wife. Franz is enchanted with the young woman and once arriving to his job the two begin a secret love affair. As the novel unfolds, the two plot to murder her husband and run off together. But, things are not going to work out as the planned.
