This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. SIGNED copy, 1995 Random House Publishing. This copy is SIGNED by the author, Simon Peres, on a CWR University book plate placed on first blank page and dated Nov. 12, 1996 (see photo). Inside pages of the book are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards with navy cloth quarter trim are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is clean and shiny, also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 350 pages including index.
One of the great statesmen in history, Shimon Peres, winner of the 1994 Nobel Prize, has shaped the history of Israel and the Middle East. The book follows Peres from his ancestral home in Poland to Israel, and from the youth movement leader to Prime Minister. In this memoir, Peres writes of his quarrels with Gold Meir and Yitzhak Rabin and writes of those he admired. He discusses the origins of the Israel nuclear program, and tells how he led the way toward the Oslo agreement. It is a fascinating view of the history of the Middle East and those who shaped what it is today.
