This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1999 Houghton Mifflin Publishing. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Tan hardcover boards w brown cloth quarter trim under dust jacket are also near fine. The dust jacket is almost like new with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 702 pages including index.
Winston and Clementine Churchill wrote each other constantly throughout their lives. From early courtship to marriage and until the year before Winston's death in 1965, their correspondence was perpetual. The letters contained their views on social and political events, experiences in the trenches of the western front in World War Two along with defeats and victories of the war. We also read of society gossip, private jokes and anxieties along with other personal insights. Mary Soames, the author and daughter of the couple, has brought her parents to life as few biographies could. The book is also an important document of history.
