This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1987 Finca Vigía Edition from Scribner Publishing w Foreword by John, Patrick, and Gregory Hemingway. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The page are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Orange hardcover boards w burnt orange quarter trim under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is still clean and shiny, also with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 650 pages.
This edition of Hemingway's short stories is a collection in one volume. It contains the entire contents of "The First Forty-nine" plus 14 other stories published in books or magazines and 7 works of fiction. These include 4 completed short stories and three extended scenes from unfinished novels. Hemingway's three sons, John, Patrick, and Gregory have written an eloquent foreword recalling their years with Papa Hemingway at the Finca Vigia ("Lookout Farm") in San Francisco de Paula, where Hemingway lived and worked for much of the last two decades of his life.
