This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1997 National Geographic Society. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, bright and white with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Green hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine. The dust jacket is clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear. Super octavo book size or 7.25" x 10.5" with 200 pages.
This book is full of extraordinary photos as you would expect from National Geographic. In addition, the author traveled the country with his photographer to document the incredible beauty and diversity of our National Forests. The Forest Service goal is to balance the riches of our parks for economic benefit and to preserve the lands for all generations. This book looks at both goals such as the over cutting of timber and mineral exploration to wildlife conservation and preservation. It is a stunning visual journey and educational exploration of the management of the parks.
