This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1960 Heritage Press. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are crisp and clean with no markings seen. NOTE: there is light dust spotting along outer page edges but does not carry over to inside The binding is tight and straight. Green marbled hardcover boards with solid green quarter trim are also near fine. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Imperial octavo book size or 9" x 10" with 158 pages.
Published in 1903, Call of the Wild by Jack London is a classic adventure story. Set during the 1890's Klondike Gold Rush, the central character is Buck the sled dog. The story was originally serialized in the Saturday Evening Post and later the same year published in book form. It was an instant classic and later adapted for film.
This edition is Henry Varnum Poor created two-color drawings in heavy black line with icy-blue or green backgrounds. They are superb illustrations that bring the story to life.
