This is a near fine (almost like new) larger hardcover with dust jacket. 2001 Dean Books. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Full color illustrated hardcover boards under jacket match the jacket illustrations and are clean and shiny with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying dust jacket is very good + with only a hint of shelf wear at corners/edges. There is a tiny tear to dust jacket front bottom right corner, otherwise very good +. Larger hardcover, near quarto book size or 9" x 11" with 255 pages.
The Classic Edition of The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame contains reproductions of the original illustrations first done by E.H. Shepard. It is a lovely edition featuring full color illustrated endpapers and extensive illustrations. First published in 1908, the stories began as bedtime stories told by Grahame to his young son. The book was an instant bestseller and E.H. Shepard (illustrator of Winnie the Pooh) was asked to contribute illustrations for a new edition. This classic edition is a wonderful edition for any reader young or old.
