This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. Heritage Press Edition 1966. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Linen simulated gray hardcover boards with gold title lettering along spine are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The accompanying tan slipcase is solid, very good with only light shelf wear. Imperial octavo book size or 8" x 11" with 369 pages including index of translators.
The Sonnets by Petrarch is a handsome edition from Heritage Press, finely illustrated by Aldo Salvadori. This edition has the original Italian, together with English translations selected and edited with an intro by Thomas G. Bergin. The Petrarchan Sonnet, known as the Italian sonnet, is named after the Italian poet Francesco Petrarca who was a scholar and poet of early Renaissance Italy.
