This is a very good hardcover with accompanying slipcase. Folio Society Third Impression 1963. This copy is clean inside and out. NOTE: inside front cover is a small store sticker bottom right corner (see photo). The pages are have light natural tanning but no foxing or writing seen inside. The binding is tight and straight. Black hardcover boards have gold design front and gold title lettering on spine. The hardcover boards are clean with only very light shelf wear. The accompanying slipcase is showing wear and the beginnings of a crack top edge but overall solid. Standard octavo book size or 6" x 9" with 162 pages.
The Trial of Charles l is a contemporary account taken from the memoirs of Sir Thomas Herbert and John Rushworth. It is edited by Roger Lockyer with an intro by C.V. Wedgwood. Sir Thomas Herbert was a historian and his devotion to King Charles is debated, although he was distraught at the execution of the King. John Rushworth was an English lawyer who sat in the House of Commons at times and was the author of the Rushworth Papers.
This account tells the story of the men who were present before and after the trial and execution. Taken from memoirs, Rushworth describes the scene at the execution.
