This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1971 Heritage Press Edition. This copy is still crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are crisp, clean, with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Blue hardcover boards w illustrated soldier front, dark blue quarter trim w silver title/author lettering on spine are also near fine with only a hint of shelf wear. The copy incudes the original Sandglass pamphlet. The accompanying blue slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Super octavo size or 7" x 11" with 222 pages.
Tales of Soldiers and Civilians by Ambrose Bierce is a collection of American Civil War stories. Ambrose Bierce was a soldier and author and published this title in 1891. The stories describe events in the lives of soldiers and civilians during the Civil War. The Grolier Club named the book as one of the most influential American books published before 1900 as some of the finest American literature stories. One of Bierce's most famous stories, An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge is included in the stories.
