Our Firemen The History of the New York Fire Departments was originally published in 1887. The extensively detailed volume takes readers through the development of the New York volunteer fire department, the creation of fire prevention laws, and the history of firefighting apparatus from the bucket to the hose. It is a definitive and large volume that includes 10 chapters of biographies on heroic firefighters and old-time lads. This edition is an exact version of the original and reproduced in its entirety with extensive illustrations, maps, reports and even detailed diagrams of certain neighborhoods in the city.
