The binding is tight and straight. Navy hardcover boards with aqua quarter trim under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is almost like new with only light shelf wear. Royal octavo book size or 6.5" x 10" with 513 pages.
The Island of the Day Before by Italian writer Umberto Eco is a novel of science and navigation in the mid 17th century. After a violent storm, Roberto finds himself shipwrecked - on a ship. Swept from his original ship, he has pulled himself aboard The Daphne, anchored in the bay of a beautiful island. The ship has full provisions, but the crew is missing. As he explores the ship he remembers chapters from his youth. In this critically acclaimed novel, Umberto Eco tells of a young dreamer searching of love and meaning and of another character, an amazing man who, with his clocks and maps, has plumbed the secrets of longitudes, the four moons of Jupiter, and the Flood.
