This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. First Edition, full alphabet line, Harcourt Publishing. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean, with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Burnt orange hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine. The dust jacket is almost like new with only a hint of shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" with 468 pages including source notes.
The Mysterious Flame of Queen Lorna by Italian writer Umberto Eco is an illustrated novel originally published in Italian, and subsequently in English by Harcourt. It revolves around an antiquarian book dealer who loses his memory due to a stroke. He can remember every book plot he every read but cannot remember his name. He does not recognize his family. To retrieve his past, he returns to the family home in the hills of Milan. In the attic he goes through photos and diaries and relives the story of his generation. His memories begin to run wild and take the form of a graphic novel. The novel is nostalgic, funny and full of heart and soul.
