This is a very good hardcover, NO dust jacket, jacket missing. Third Printing Viking Press 1962. This copy is very clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, they are very clean and the only marking seen is inside front cover you can barely see where previous owners name was erased near top edge. The binding is tight and straight. Red cloth hardcover boards are also very good with only very light shelf wear, mostly corners and edges. Larger quarto book size or 9" x 12" with 54 pages.
Originally published in 1956 in a signed limited edition bound in green cloth, this edition is the THIRD Printing Viking 1962, considered the trade edition. it is still a collectible as the beloved stories of Madeline have endured with readers of all ages. In this story, Madeline judges the boy who moves into a neighboring house a "Bad Hat" or trouble-maker. Adventure ensues as the girls investigate the "Bad Hat" next door.
