This is a good rare vintage hardcover. 1931 Illustrated Editions Co. Deluxe Edition. This copy is good inside and out. The pages are showing light natural tanning from age but clean and NOTE: the only markings seen is previous owners name neatly written inside front cover top edge and dated "1933" (see photo). Rough cut page edges add to the vintage look often seen at the time of publication. The binding is tight and straight, but also NOTE: between pages 112-113 there is a small crack to binding approx. halfway down. The pages at this spot are still tight and not falling out. Green hardcover boards with olive green half cloth trim are very good given age but the title lettering along the spine is worn off. There is light shelf wear to boards at corners/edges, but again, given age overall very good. Royal octavo book size or 6.5" x 10" with 222 pages including index.
This edition of The Fables of Aesop is nicely illustrated by Charles H. Bennett and features an intro by editor Willis L. Parker. The illustrations are black and white line drawings which help to bring characters to life.
