Through their control of The New York Times, the Ochses and Sulzberger's have been one of the most powerful families in 20th century America. Not only have they owned the Times for more than 100 years, but a family member has always been at the helm. Although this position has given them enormous influence and been passed down as a birthright, they have always been intensely private. The Trust is the first full-scale portrait of the monarchy, a dramatic saga set against a backdrop of world events along with the burdens of privilege, wealth and power. The book was written with the full cooperation of the families and unconditional access to New York Times archives. It is a rich and detailed portrait.
