This is near fine (almost like new) hardcover with dust jacket. 1983 Doubleday Publishing. This copy is signed by the editor, Stuart David Schiff, on a bookplate inside front cover. The pages inside are still crisp and clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Maroon hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine with barely a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is still clean and mostly shiny with only a hint of shelf wear along edges/corners. Slightly smaller size, crown octavo book size or 5.5" x 8.5" with 182 pages.
Whispers edited by Stuart David Schiff was originally published as a magazine in the 1970's. It was a sort of attempt to revive the legendary Weird Tales in some way. It was a showcase for fantasy fiction with fine illustrations. Some o the best writers were featured including Robert Bloch, Ramsey Campbell and more. Beginning in 1978 it morphed into anthologies published in hardcovers by Doubleday.
Whispers lV edited by Stuart David Schiff contains 16 short stories from authors such as Tanith Lee, Hugh B. Cave, Russell Kirk, Charles L. Grant and more. This edition was not illustrated. This copy has editors bookplate signed and placed inside front cover.
