This is a near fine (almost like new) large hardcover with dust jacket. First Printing 1976 Watson-Guptill Publishing. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean and free of markings. The binding is tight and straight. Brown cloth hardcover boards under jacket are also near fine. The dust jacket is clean and shiny with only a hint of shelf wear. Quarto book size or 11" x 12" with 207 pages including index.
Frank Schoonover, one of the giants of the Golden Age of American Illustration, was renowned for his scenes of life on the western frontier of America and Canada. He also illustrated scores of Christmas classics for children, such as Tales From Shakespeare for Children, Kidnapped, King Arthur and more. This collection was the first full-scale illustrated study of Schoonover's work, not only rediscovering the paintings of a major artist, but providing an important visual document of frontier life.
