This is a near fine (almost like new) hardcover with accompanying slipcase. 1986 Book of the Month Club, issued in fine binding hardcover with slipcase. This copy is crisp and clean inside and out. The pages are still crisp, clean with no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Tan cloth hardcover boards are also near fine with only a hint of shelf wear. Attached silk ribbon bookmark. The accompanying slipcase is very good with only light shelf wear. Medium octavo book size or 6.5" x 9.5" 346 pages including index.
This bicentennial editor, published in 1986 is the story of the Constitutional Convention May to Sept. 1787. Miracle at Philadelphia by Catherine Drinker Bower recounts the convention. This edition has a new foreword by Henry Steele Commager and illustrations by Warren Chappell.
It contains vivid portraits of the founding fathers and draws the history from notes and journals of the founding fathers especially from James Madison. Washington, Madison, Hamilton, Franklin, Mason and more are detailed for their involvement and contributions.
