This is a very good hardcover with dust jacket. 1983 Viking Press. This copy is clean inside and out. The pages are clean, no markings seen. The binding is tight and straight. Tan hardcover boards with quarter black cloth spine are also very good with only a hint of shelf wear. The dust jacket is good, it is showing wear including several very small tears at edges. Jacket is clean but somewhat worn and is price clipped inside front jacket flap. Medium octavo size or 6" x 9.5" with 752 pages.
Vietnam, A History by Stanley Karnow was the first complete account of the War. The central theme is that America's leaders, pressured by politics and global ambitions, carried the United States into Southeast Asia with little regard for the realities of the region. It explains the political and military events that occurred ins Vietnam after the Americans arrived and delved into the decision making in Washington.
